The most challenging homework assignment I have ever had was finding my spelling words in a magazine. How are you supposed to find fourth grade spelling words in People magazine?
Reading is very enjoyable, but what I love more than writing. When I write stories in my free time, I feel relaxed, creative, and inventive. Writing is great because it allows me to open my mind to a whole other world of imagination.
DO YOU SEE THE VOCABULARY IN THIS! BESTILL MY HEART!
Question: What is our favorite part about teaching language arts? Why do you like it?
I love seeing a student's face when he or she finally discovers something and that's why I try to be hands-off. I might provide a little bit of background knowledge, but when a student asks a question, I really love to turn it on them. Why do YOU think that?
A lot of times the student gets really angry with me because they want to immediate gratification of having an answer that instant. But if I had given it to them, they wouldn't remember it the next day. When they finally figure it out, they might growl at me, but the content is way more applicable to the assignment. It's just fascinating.
Question: What is your idea of the perfect student?
What a tough and loaded question! Wow. While I think the term student denotes a lack of perfection (think about it: a student is one who is learning, so he or she is constantly building on to their knowledge), there are some traits I think identify with good students.
Dedicated - a great student puts his or her mind to something and sticks with it - no matter how hard it gets.
Pride- a great student makes sure he or she takes pride of his or her work, but doing this, he or she also take responsibility of what he or she has done.
Can Cope with Mistakes - it's going to happen, but it's a matter of how one handles it. I want you to make mistakes - not because I want you to fail, but because I want you to learn authentically.
Answer: My son fills my heart with joy. He's so cute, cuddly, and funny. He likes to play this game where he'll climb up part of the stairs, turn and look to see if I'm following, and when I move, race to the top. He just started to learn to climb down.
I feel pain when I see those animal rescue commercials with Sarah Mcsomething singing in the background. Dogs especially are the best animals to keep around -- and to see them abused and lonely just breaks my heart. I wish I could have a dog paradise for them all to roam.
Question: What or who inspired you to become a teacher?
Answer: Up until I went to college, I wanted to be a lawyer. First it was corporate law, but then I realized I might have to fight for a cigarette company -- and no. I just couldn't do that.
So when I went to college, I had a few friends ask for help with their essays. THEY COULDN'T PUT TOGETHER A COMPLETE THOUGHT! It was kind of frustrating. So I thought it might be a good idea to help students learn to write them at a younger age. I think I'm doing an "ok" job at it.
I thought this was too cool:
I like the quote "Some infinities are greater than other infinities" is inspirational. There is an infinity of numbers between 0 and 1, like 0.1, 0.01. But there's a greater number of infinities between 0 and 2. I like that. It's saying one great thing could be more important than another great thing.
This one cracked me up!
Note: I will not be in school one day in September. I have a dentist appointment.
Talk about a wonderful analysis:
I never liked Language Arts that much because my teacher never went my speed, so I struggled.
