It's hard to sit at a doctor's office or a restaurant without observing a young child playing on someone's device to keep them entertained. Parents everywhere have already figured out the benefits of behavioral management through cell phones and tablets.
However, that's not how I use BYOD. BYOD in the ELA classroom is intended to be used as a tool, not a toy. Sure, games have their advantage in strategic development. I get it. But for the 49 minutes inside 6th grade Language Arts, a device best benefits students for research, assessments, and collaboration. Please adhere to the BYOD rules in my classroom.

BYOD Rules
Every classroom has the following rules:
- Use the FCPS Guest Network
- Teacher Directed use only
- When not in use, put away or keep face-down on desk
- Music must be on the device, not streamed
- Earbuds must be used for sound
