" I always wondered if there was a purpose to the universe, if there was a plan, if there was some sort of organizing factor, hopefully that I played a role in." - John Green
I'll admit it - I'm kind of a big deal. Why you ask? It's because of my obsession with Diet Dr. Pepper.
But for real, here's the low-down on your new favorite teacher:
I work hard so you work harder - because that's how you learn.

Sports were a huge part of my growing up, and so, I try to relate all of that to my educational philosophy. When it finally becomes time to throw the ball, do you want to throw it? Or do you want your coach to throw it for you? Do you want to steal a base? Or do you want your coach to do it for you?
I don't know about you, but I always wanted to be the person doing something. And I wanted to get better, faster, stronger, more accurate, more...PERFECT. So you practice, right?
NO.
Practice does not make perfect. PERFECT practice makes perfect. If you practice doing something the wrong way or let someone else do it for you, what are you really doing?
WHAT'S YOUR POINT, LADY?
We step in a classroom and tend to deviate from the competitiveness inside of us. Suddenly, we want the teacher to tell us what a word means, how to put a sentence together, and to read us an entire chapter out loud.
And what do we really get from that?
So, sometimes I'll say no. Sometimes I'll point to a dictionary. Sometimes, I'll just ask you a question in response to your question. And you'll get mad. You'll get frustrated. You'll say mean things about me.
And then, you'll go practice life. You'll look it up. You'll figure it out. You will do awesome things that I could've done for you, but I didn't. Because I want you to be more awesome than I am.
So I'll look for the things you need help with; I'll be honest about them; and I'll give you ways to overcome your obstacles. But you'll be the one tearing down walls and obliterating the 6th grade.
And that's my promise to you: I will help you dominate middle school so long as you help yourself be awesome.
